FAQ

Is the data I submit secure?

Yes. Researchers do not have access to your personal data because the crowdsourcing framework (PYBOSSA) does not store any user-identifying data within the server. In other words, your email or any other personal information are not linked to any of the answers provided when you fill out your user profile. This project complies with ethical standards for research involving humans, and was approved by the Human Subjects Board of SUNY Oswego.

This site complies with GDPR protocols?

Yes. This site uses the software PYBOSSA, and PYBOSSA is fully compliant with GDPR (more info).

Why do I have to fill out my profile again when I switch devices?

As a security precaution, users are unable to store information on the server (see above). This prevents anyone from having access to your personal information. Therefore, when trying to access the website from a different device, your information is not saved and you are prompted to fill out the survey again.

Why is the site so slow?

Please be patient with us… Algorithm Observatory is a work in progress! This platform is being shared with other research projects, which may cause you to experience lag time or technical difficulties.

What is the technology behind the site?

The site is build on PYBOSSA by Scifabric.

What can I do to help?

Create an account and contribute content to the site. The more data we have, the more useful Algorithm Observatory will be.
